Shadow fans, rejoice!

Paramount Pictures has finally dropped the first trailer for the third installment of the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog film, which gives fans a good long look at Shadow the Hedgehog.

The nearly three-minute clip starts with the titular character showcasing his powers with his new friends Tails and Knuckles before introducing Shadow, who escapes his containment pod and causes chaos in the city.

As Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles strive to stop their mysterious new foe, they find themselves overpowered and needing help from the mad scientist and Sonic's arch-nemesis Dr. Robotnik.

The trailer reaches a climactic cliffhanger as Sonic and Shadow collide and exchange blows in the sky.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 follows Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary: Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.

The film stars the voices of Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Tails, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow.

The live-action cast includes Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik as well as James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, Lee Majdoub, Alyla Browne, and Krysten Ritter.

The film is based on the beloved video game series of the same name published by Sega.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will premiere in cinemas sometime in 2025.
