Adobe looking to release free web version of Photoshop to all users

Photoshop experts and wannabes may soon no longer have to pay for subscription (and resort to illagal cracked versions).

Software company Adobe has piloted a free web version of its popular photo-editing app in Canada, in a bid to make it accessible to more users in the near future.

In a report from tech news website The Verge, users only have to create an Adobe account, which is free of charge, to use the no-cost Photoshop online.

Photoshop's web version has the core functions, though the service remains a "freemium," meaning more features will be accessible through a subscription.

“We want to make [Photoshop] more accessible and easier for more people to try it out and experience the product," Maria Yap, Adobe’s vice president of digital imaging was quoted as saying.

Adobe has yet to announce when the free version of Photoshop will be available outside of Canada.

The company first released Photoshop's web version in October 2021, a simplified version of the paid app that can handle basic edits.

An Adobe Photoshop monthly subscription costs P1,570. An annual subscription paid monthly is worth P1,046, while a one-time big-time annual plan is at a discounted P11,964 (which translates to a P997 monthly payment).
