The first trailer for Studio MAPPA’s new anime series, Chainsaw Man, can now be viewed online.

Chainsaw Man is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto and was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine from 2018 to 2020.

The English version of the manga is licensed in english by Viz Media for both print and digital.

Chainsaw Man follows the story of Denji who desperately attempts to pay back his deceased father’s debt to the Yakuza by selling several of his organs and working as a devil hunter.

The Yakuza eventually betrays and kills him which forces the devil dog, which resembles a chainsaw he is taking care of named Pochita, to merge their bodies and become the rampaging demon-human hybrid with chainsaws on his arms and head.

The trailer featured glimpses of the gory and adrenaline-fueled fight sequences that were first seen in the manga now in animated form.

As of June 2021 the manga has sold over 11 million copies and won the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category.

As of this writing, there is still no release date announced by Studio MAPPA, but fans are expecting the anime to premiere around November 2021.
