Sue Ramirez, Karylle to star in Manila staging of 'Little Shop of Horrors'
The Sandbox Collective has introduced the cast of its Manila staging of Broadway musical Little Shop of Horrors, which includes Karylle, Nyoy Volante, Reb Atadero, and Sue Ramirez.
Little Shop of Horrors, a horror-comedy musical, follows the story of a hapless florist, Seymour, who falls in love with his co-worker Audrey. He comes across a peculiar plant he names Audrey II which feeds on human flesh and blood.
Playing the flower shop worker in the upcoming Manila show are Nyoy and Reb. Meanwhile, Sue and Karylle will be playing Audrey.
The coming musical will be Sue's theater debut. The actress has starred in films and TV shows including Iron Heart and Ang Babaeng Allergic sa WiFi.
Reb is a theater veteran currently starring in 9Works Theatrical's RENT.
Karylle and Nyoy aren't new to theater, too, as the actress was in 2022 staging of Carousel while the "King of Acoustic Pop" was in Spelling Bee.
"Well, this is going to be one helluva ride! Extremely blessed and grateful to be doing another show this year alongside such wonderful people! Glad to be here for [Sue]'s theater debut and to be working alongside two people I've always admired (Nyoy and Karylle)," Reb wrote on Instagram.
Little Shop of Horrors will open on July 6 at the Globe Auditorium, GF, Maybank Performing Arts Theater in Bonifacio Global City. Ticket details have yet to be revealed.
The musical was previously staged by Repertory Philippines in 1986, 1989, 1993, and 2005.
