Mark Reyes steps down as director of Sang'gre, Rico Gutierrez and Enzo Williams to take over
Mark Reyes confirmed that he will no longer direct the upcoming fantasy drama series Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre. He will be replaced by Rico Gutierrez and Enzo Williams.
According to a statement published on the website of GMA Entertainment, Reyes said his decision to step down comes after he chose to shift his attention towards his other projects scheduled for next year.
"At this time, I will be focusing on my other work commitments set for 2025 which will need my utmost attention," Reyes explained.
"Like all situations of this kind, it's a complicated matter and I believe that it is best for everyone involved to honor the Encantadia legacy by moving forward with the production," he added.
The series will now be helmed by his fellow filmmakers Gutierrez, known for directing Agimat ng Agila, and Williams, who managed Ang Probinsyano and Maging Sino Ka Man.
Reyes ended his statement by expressing his support for the cast and crew.
"I wish the cast, the staff, Direk Enzo and Direk Rico the best of luck with the remaining work for Sanggre. Avisala Eshma!" he said.
Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre serves as a spin-off to the 2016 fantasy drama series Encantadia. The show will star Bianca Umali, Faith da Silva, Angel Guardian, and Kelvin Miranda as the new generation Sang'gres, or mythical beings of royal lineage who can control the four elements: earth, fire, air, and water.
Encantadia first premiered in 2005 and starred Sunshine Dizon, Karylle, and Diana Zubiri alongside Iza. After two follow-ups, Etheria and Encantadia: Pag-ibig Hanggang Wakas, the series was rebooted in 2016 to star Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, and Sanya.
The upcoming spin-off is yet to have a release date.
