'Star wars' series 'Andor' season 2 to premiere in April 2025 on Disney+
Attention Star Wars fans! A release date for Andor season 2 has been announced.
The Star Wars spinoff, which takes place before the events of Rogue One, will premiere on April 22, 2025 on Disney+.
The announcement came after eagle-eyed social media users noticed a graphic showing the date on the mobile version of the streaming app.
Andor follows the story of Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna. From his life as a thief and scavenger, Cassian joins the Rebellion opposing the Galactic Empire.
According to Variety, the show's second season will have 12 episodes and take place over four years so it inches closer to events of Rogue One. The 2016 film followed the story of Jyn (Felicity Jones), the daughter of scientist Galen Erso who was the lead engineer to the Death Star, as she joined forces with Cassian and others to steal the plans of the superweapon. ICYDK, Rogue One takes place weeks before the first-ever Star Wars movie, A New Hope (1977).
"We know exactly where we're going. You know what you have to deliver emotionally and what the story has to do. It's a decision borne of survival, but it's good for us creatively," series co-writer Tony Gilroy said during a Star Wars Celebration fan convention in London in April 2023.
Andor also stars Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgård, Fiona Shaw, Genevieve O'Reilly, Denise Gough, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, and Elizabeth Dulau.
The Acolyte, another Star Wars series on Disney+, was canceled after one season. Meanwhile, Ahsoka is also getting a second season, which will begin filming in spring 2025.
