Learn animation, podcasting, and more at this Creativity Camp for kids this summer

Published Mar 29, 2025 8:56 am

These days, it's hard to peel children away from smartphones, tablets, and computers. While the potential for excessive screen time is a valid concern, with careful guidance, it's also a playground for creativity, offering learning opportunities.

Luckily, Power Mac Center's Creativity Camp, under its training arm Basecamp, offers just that. And now that it's summer, kids have extra time on their hands for engaging and productive learning.

“We offer kids and teens an exclusive opportunity to explore next-generation technologies through engaging, hands-on experiences. With guidance from expert instructors, they’ll unleash their creativity while gaining essential digital skills that will benefit them in the future. Our goal is to equip young learners with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the evolving digital landscape,” Maleng Raysag, Basecamp’s head, said in the statement.

Among the courses offered is “3D and AR Creators: Build and Bring Stories to Life,” where kids will get to bring their imaginative ideas to life by learning skills in 2D and 3D design and augmented reality using an iPad. This workshop is scheduled for May 6 and 8, May 13 and 15, May 20 and 22, and May 27 and 29.

They can also hone their storytelling skills under the “Creative Storytelling: Podcast and Animation Fun,” where they will be taught how to write, record, and animate their own stories using the iPad. This workshop will run on June 3 and 5, June 10 and 12, June 17 and 19, and June 24 and 26.

Participants can choose between morning sessions from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or afternoon sessions from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Fond of the arts? “Digital Designers: Create in 2D & 3D” course offers hands-on training on making digital models using Mac apps, perfect for aspiring designers, animators, and architects. This session is available on select dates: May 7 and 9, May 14 and 16, May 21 and 23, and May 28 and 30.

There will also be the “Make Your Own AI: Fun with Smart Technology” course, which will teach kids how to use AI in generation models, without coding. This session will be conducted on June 4 and 6, June 11 and 13, June 18 and 20, and June 25 and 27. Both courses offer morning sessions from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and afternoon sessions from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The workshop is open to kids aged 7 to 15, and participants will be grouped by age for an optimal learning experience.

Creativity Camp courses are priced at P5,500 per student, per course. Each course is four days long, with two hours of instruction per day. A package deal offers three courses for P15,000 per student, totaling 12 days.

Note that the slots are limited and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

To secure a slot, parents must complete the required payment via bank deposit, which is non-refundable but transferable.

The workshop will be held at the Basecamp Training Center, 3rd Floor, Glorietta 5, Ayala Center, Makati City.
