Samsung unpacks Galaxy S25 series with audio eraser, improved generative edit, and other AI features

Samsung has unveiled its newest flagship device: the Galaxy S25 series.

The tech company introduced the new phones—consisting of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra—at its Unpacked event on Jan 23 (Philippine time).

The latest devices are equipped with improved AI features such as an audio eraser that can get rid of noise in videos and AI agents to complete multi-step tasks between apps.

More 'natural and intuitive' AI

Running on One UI 7, the Galaxy S25 series provides personalized AI experiences with AI agents boosting the phone's capability to interpret text, speech, images, and videos for more natural interactions.

Circle to Search, first introduced in the Galaxy S24, has been upgraded to understand context in the device. It now recognizes phone numbers, email, and URLs so you can call, email, or visit a website with one tap.

Users will even get context-aware suggestions for next steps—even actions in different apps—like sharing a GIF or add something to your calendar.

As the phone interprets context, usage, and patterns, it will serve up Now Brief, a summary of your day. In this tab, you'll get the weather forecast, your calendar events for the day, and even photos taken a year ago from that day.

With all that personalized data, Samsung promises they are kept private and secure by Knox Vault and on-device processing.

Hardware and design

Specs-wise, one of the biggest upgrades to the lineup is the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and 12GB RAM, which fuels AI experiences. The cameras also got better—From the previous 12MP on the Galaxy S24, the ultrawide sensor on the Galaxy S25 is a 50MP shooter.

The device features a simple, elegant design with its slim chassis with rounded edges for a comfortable grip.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra, the most premium in the line, also gets a flat design but its corners are squared off. It's also made with durable titanium and Corning Gorilla Armor 2, which Samsung says is more durable than glass.

The base model Galaxy S25 comes with a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, while the Galaxy S25+ features a bigger 6.7-inch display. The biggest phone in the line is the 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Camera and AI-powered editing

The Galaxy S25 Ultra promises sharper shots at all ranges with its 50MP ultrawide shooter, 200MP wide camera, and 50MP+10MP telephoto lens. In front, a 12MP camera takes selfies.

Videos are more vibrant, too, as the phone does 10-bit HDR recording by default for capturing details in any lighting conditions.

Cameras aside, Samsung also added improvements to its editing tools like better Generative Edit. Instead of circling an object you want to remove from the photo, you only need to tap on it and the phone will highlight the object entirely.

Additionally, the company introduced Audio Eraser, a video editing feature to remove unwanted noise. It isolates categories of sounds, from voices, music, wind, nature, crowd, and noise, and lets you control what you want to tone down or mute.

Pricing and availability

The Galaxy S25 series will be available for pre-order from Jan. 23 to Feb. 13. The base model and Plus will come in Navy, Silver Shadow, Icyblue, and Mint, while the Ultra will don Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Black, Titanium Whitesilver, and Titanium Gray colorways.

All devices come with six months of Gemini Advanced and 2TB of cloud storage.

Those who pre-order will get offers including double up storage for 256 and 512GB, 30% cross-sell on Galaxy Buds and Watch, 50% off one year of Samsung Care+, and up to P12,000 trade-in incentive.
