LIST: Where to celebrate Chinese New Year 2023 with your loved ones

How are you planning to ring in Chinese New Year 2023?

The Year of the Rabbit will officially start on Jan. 22, a little over three weeks after welcoming 2023. While it has long been celebrated in China annually, families in different parts of the globe—including the Philippines—also join in the Lunar New Year revelry. 

If you’re looking to usher in CNY with your loved ones but don’t know where to go, check out this roundup of some festive places in the Philippines where you can mark the occasion for a year filled with luck, abundance, and prosperity. 

17th Spring Film Festival 

A myriad of CNY activities await at the 17th Spring Film Festival at Shangri-La Plaza from Jan. 16 to 22, including a Chinese art exhibit, jeans painting workshop, and Chinese music concert. There will also be a free screening of different films from Jan. 16 to 24, with Hi, Mom, Song of the Phoenix, Love Education, B for Busy, Uproar in Heaven, among others included in the lineup. Admission is free of charge. 

New World Makati Hotel 

New World Makati Hotel is accepting reservations for its “Auspicious Stays.” From Jan. 20 to 22, the establishment is offering their Deluxe Room with a city view for P8,888 nett and their Residence Club Deluxe Room for P10,888 nett. Solaire Resort 

Solaire Resort is holding a Chinese New Year kick-off ceremony on Jan. 22, 9:00 a.m. at the Solaire Main Driveway, featuring a lion and dragon dance that’s believed to drive off bad luck and welcome the good for the entire 2023. The traditional ritual will be led by renowned performance dance troupe PAGODA. You may know more about the event here.

Bellevue Manila 

There will also be a dragon and lion dance at The Bellevue Manila on Jan. 22 at 12:00 p.m. The hotel is also offering a special set menu (6-8 pax/10-12 pax) at the Phoenix Court starting at P12,000 from Jan. 13 to 22 as well as a special buffet at Café D’Asie (P2,440/head) from Jan. 21-22. Araneta City

Araneta City also has various things in store for the Year of the Rabbit. From Jan. 15-31, fun CNY activities will take place—from a lion and dragon dance to zodiac forecast exhibit, “lucky pawrty event,” performances, tarot reading, bazaar, and beyond. 

Lime Beach Club Manila 

Up for a countdown party? Starting at P2,299, you can enjoy a sunset session, Chinese buffet dinner (from 7:00 op.m. to 10:00 p.m.), unlimited drinks, and fireworks display from 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at Lime Beach Club Manila from Jan. 21 to 22. O2 Rooftop Bar 

O2 Rooftop Bar in Bonifacio Global City is welcoming the Year of the Rabbit with a CNY party on Jan. 21, starting at 9:00 p.m. It will be a night of music, “lucky dip” where you can win prizes, photobooth, as well as a special Chinese menu.
