Jackie Chan faints while filming fight scene for upcoming movie

By NICK GARCIA Published Oct 03, 2024 12:21 pm

Action star and martial arts legend Jackie Chan fainted while shooting a fight scene for his upcoming film

In a behind-the-scenes video for Panda Plan, the 70-year-old actor can be seen getting headlocked by a man before he loses consciousness and falls.

The man let go of Chan as staff ran toward the actor to help. As the staff checked on Chan, he seemingly didn't react and was unaware of what happened.

After a brief pause, Chan asked, "What are we doing?"

When he was told that he had fainted, Chan couldn't believe it, saying it probably happened as he was holding his breath while being headlocked.

He insisted that he's fine and filmed the scene again after a quick break.

In an interview after the incident, Chan assured everyone it's "not a big deal."

"I need to assure everyone else [that I'm fine]," he said, "otherwise they would want me to use a stunt double."

"If I just sit there while they use a stunt double, and they just film my close-ups after he's done, I would feel very guilty!" he added.

Fans expressed concerns over Chan's health.

"Take care of yourself, my favorite superstar of all time," one user commented on Singaporean outlet ET Today's TikTok repost.

"At 70 years old already, he should not do any more dangerous stunt and let those younger stuntmen do the job," another user commented on Singaporean YouTube channel Twenty Two Thirty's content. "We know he wanted to do his best to produce a good movie by doing the stunt by himself as what he had done during his younger days but when age catches up with him, he must learn to let go and let others do it."

With a career spanning over six decades, Chan appeared in over 150 films, including Drunken Master, The Big Brawl, Police Story, the Rush Hour series, and The Karate Kid remake.

He's known for his slapstick acrobatic fighting style, comic timing, and innovative stunts.

Chan holds a Guinness World Record for the most stunts by a living actor.
