Big day for Swifties and bookworms.

Taylor Swift is releasing a new song titled Carolina for the film adaptation of the best-selling novel Where The Crawdads Sing.

The 2018 novel by Delia Owens follows the life of Kya, a social outcast who was forced to raise herself in the North Carolina marsh after her family abandons her. As the story progresses, Kya earns the ire of her fellow townspeople as a lonesome and awkward "marsh girl" before being accused of a gruesome crime.

It’s since garnered critical acclaim and has spent 150 weeks in the New York Times Fiction Best Sellers as of February 2022. The upcoming film adaptation will be led by Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) and produced by Reese Witherspoon.

"Where The Crawdads Sing is a book I got absolutely lost in when I read it years ago," Taylor shared on social media along with the film’s first trailer.

"As soon as I heard there was a film in the works starring the incredible [Daisy Edgar Jones] and produced by the brilliant [Reese Witherspoon], I knew I wanted to be a part of it from the musical side."

She then shared she wrote the new song alone along and tasked the help of musical producer Aaron Dressner, Swift’s longtime collaborator, in making it come alive. The duo also worked on numerous tracks for Swift’s rerecorded albums such as Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version).’

"I wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match this mesmerizing story," the 11-time Grammy winner concluded.

Meanwhile, the trailer itself shows scenes from the upcoming film with narration by Edgar-Jones.

Little of Swift’s new song is heard, save for the lyrics: They never saw me / You didn't see me here (You didn't see me) / No, they never did see me here / There are places I will never, ever go to / Things that only Carolina will ever know.

Where The Crawdads Sing is slated for a July 2022 release.
