Kim Chiu’s ‘Bawal Lumabas’ is now an online series, starring Francine Diaz and Kyle Echarri
Kim Chiu just proved you can turn literally anything—including a much-maligned incoherent quote—into a TV show.
ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment has just released the trailer for its upcoming online series. Titled “Bawal Lumabas: The Series,” it is set to premiere on Mon, Dec. 14 on its online streaming service iWantTFC.
The show is inspired by Kim’s viral soundbite, wherein she compared the government-imposed community quarantine to a classroom during a Facebook Live stream last May.
“Sa classroom may batas. Bawal lumabas. O bawal lumabas. Pero ‘pag sinabi, ‘pag nagcomply ka na bawal lumabas, pero may ginawa ka sa pinagbabawal nila, inayos mo yung law ng classroom niyo at sinubmit mo ulit, ay pwede na pala ikaw lumabas,” the now-infamous quote goes.
Kim, who was bashed and heavily criticized online for her "Bawal Lumabas" statement, turned what she considers as “one of the lowest points” in her life into a pop culture moment, turning the sound bite into a song (which has gotten over millions of views on Youtube) and even official merchandise.

But it seems the show abandons its pandemic and quarantine inspiration, at least based on the trailer. Here, Kim plays an OFW who comes home to the Philippines for Christmas and aims to set her younger sister Francine, who is failing in school, straight.
And how will Kim do this? By keeping an eye on Francine as her classmate in high school. Expect Kim to mouth off the show’s titular line and dance to her “Bawal Lumabas” at some point in the series.
“Bawal Lumabas: The Series” is just one of ABS-CBN’s many shows and movies to stream exclusively on iWantTFC as it strengthens its catalog of online properties following the shutdown of its free TV operations.
Star Cinema, ABS-CBN’s film production arm, recently announced that it will stream worldwide the movie Four Sisters Before The Wedding, initially slated for a theatrical release before the COVID-19 pandemic, via its online and pay-per-view platforms later this month.
