Lindsay Lohan to make acting comeback in Netflix Christmas rom-com

After years of keeping lowkey in the acting scene, Lindsay Lohan is back with an upcoming Christmas rom-com from streaming giant Netflix.

Per Variety the still-untitled film will center around a “newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress,” played by Lohan, who eventually “finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.”

It’s a classic tale fit for Netflix’s arsenal of sugary feel-good holiday films like The Princess Switch, Holidate, and A Christmas Prince.

Lohan gained stardom from the 1990s to the early 2000s with her hit films Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, and Mean Girls, among others. After her tumultuous younger years in the spotlight, she's since been releasing solo music, and ventured into putting up club and restaurant businesses around the world.

During an interview about her 2019 reality TV show Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, the 34-year old explained why she decided to step back from the film industry.

“[Even] if I do everything right, they have to find one thing to make everything negative to some extent. I just want to know what people want me to do so that everything can just be okay. I don’t know if that’s ever going to be possible.”

“My entire life has been in the public eye. So, people will see that this [project] is something really important to me, and I don’t want anyone coming between that."
