The third season of The Boys is finally headed back to Amazon’s Prime Video on June 3, 2022.

The gritty and violent superhero series, based on the best-selling comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, puts a bold, fresh and bloody new spin on the superhero genre, centered on a group of vigilantes who set out to take down corrupt superheroes. The series hails from a team including Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

The official teaser trailer released Sunday (March 13), features the new single Bones by Imagine Dragons and is rated “D” for “Diabolical.”

As expected, the red band trailer is loaded with epic fight scenes, bloodshed, and crazy teasers, including Billy Butcher getting his own laser eyes. Previous posters revealed Urban's Butcher with glowing eyes, which will put him on a more level playing field against the Supes.

Along with showcasing the series' signature brand of gratuitous violence, the nearly two-minute long teaser also featured what looks like some Peacemaker-style dance sequences. And of course, we get our first look at Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy.

The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Huhgie, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Timer Capon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as The Female, with Simon Pegg guest starring as Hughie’s father.

The supherhero team known as The Seven are led by Anthony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, Dominique McElligot as Queen Maeve, Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Chase Crawford as The Deep and Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir.

The Seven are twisted versions of superheroes modeled after popular DC and Marvel comic book characters.

The upcoming season will welcome several new stars playing new superhero characters.

Aside from Ackles’ Soldier Boy, the new cast includes Nick Wechsler (Revenge) as Blue Hawk, Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead) as Crimson Countess, Miles Gaston Villanueva (Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders) as Supersonic, Sean Patrick Flannery (Young Indiana Jones) as Gunpowder, Katia Winter (Sleepy Hollow) as Little Nina, and Kristin Booth (Orphan Black) and Jack Doolan (Marcella) as Tessa and Tommy, aka the TNT Twins.

It’s unclear if Amazon will follow the same release strategy of the previous two seasons but it’s likely that they’ll release only the first three episodes when the series premieres, followed by new episodes weekly.

The Boys will premiere on Prime Video on June 3, 2022.
