‘Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers’ premieres on Disney Plus in May 2022
Another iconic ’90s cartoon series is boarding the nostalgia wagon this year as everybody’s favorite chipmunks are reuniting once again to solve more cases and save the day.
Yes, you read it right. After 30 years, the long-awaited hybrid live-action/CG animated action-comedy adaptation of Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers is finally happening, and Disney Plus just released a new trailer to provide ’90s kids with a sneak peek at the beloved animated film adaptation.
The trailer begins with the cartoon series’ iconic theme song while a voiceover from a reality TV show narrates the story behind the rise and fall of the ’90s cartoon series “that defined a generation and turned two unknown chipmunks into international superstars.”
We then see the revamped 2D animation of the characters including Dale whom proudly shares that he has undergone "CGI surgergy." The trailer then proceeds to show the life of the anthropomorphic chipmunks after their show ended as well as cameos by various cartoon characters from other Disney franchises including Roger Rabbit, Three Little Pigs, the Sultan from Aladdin, cats from Cats, and Scrooge McDuck.
Here's the official synopsis of the upcoming film adaptation: In Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different now. It has been decades since their successful television series was canceled, and Chip has succumbed to a life of suburban domesticity as an insurance salesman. Dale, meanwhile, has had CGI surgery and works the nostalgia convention circuit, desperate to relive his glory days. When a former cast mate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend’s life.
The Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers live-action film stars John Mulaney (Saturday Night Live) as Chip and Andy Samberg (Palm Springs, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Dale.
They will be joined by KiKi Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk), Will Arnett (Arrested Development, Bojack Horseman), Eric Bana (Dirty John), Flula Borg (Pitch Perfect 2), Dennis Haysbert (24), Keegan-Michael Key (Schmigadoon!), Tress MacNeille (The Simpsons), Tim Robinson (I Think You Should Leave), Seth Rogen (Pam and Tommy), J.K.
