La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City will reopen on June 29 after a four-month renovation amid changes in its management.

In a recent Facebook post, the park announced that its first phase will finally open to conclude the Philippine Environment Month.

It also invited the public to "BiodiverCity" (biodiversity in the city) as part of the park's "renewed journey as an environment hub" as it asked the public to stay tuned for more information about its official reopening.

ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. maintained La Mesa Ecopark for 25 years before handing the stewardship to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System's concessionaire Manila Water last February.

Manila Water previously said the park will undergo three rehabilitation phases.

The first phase will see repairs over the Eco Academy Pavilion, museum, team building activity centers, picnic areas, souvenir shop, viewing deck, and swimming pool.

The second and third phase of the rehabilitation, meanwhile, will be done after the reopening.

La Mesa Ecopark last underwent renovation in 1999 when ABS-CBN Foundation was in charge. The late environmentalist Gina Lopez was among the significant figures who led the park's renovation.

Located in Greater Lagro, La Mesa Ecopark has been a go-to destination for hiking, mountain biking, zip-lining, fishing, paddle-boating in the lagoon, and more. It also had an “Ecotrail” and an orchidarium.

It's also been a popular venue for several outreach activities.
