Amid criticisms about her "history is like tsismis" gaffe, actress Ella Cruz is asking the public for "a little humanity" after netizens poked fun at her father due to alleged screenshots of his Facebook posts defending the already controversial remark.

"Bash me all you want PERO WAG NIYONG IDADAMAY PAMILYA KO," Ella wrote on Facebook on July 7. "Have a little humanity, please." It has over 21,000 reactions (over half of which are "Haha" reactions), 4,700 comments, and 1,500 shares.

Ella also attached a cropped screenshot from "House of Representa-thieves: Butasang Pambulsa," an 84,000-member public group which mostly has posts about Philippine politics.

The screenshot Ella posted showed only the caption of the group member's post, which read: "Nagsalita na yung tatay ni Ella Cruz yung naka 2% lang noong eleksyon. Kaya hindi umabot ng isanglibo ang bumuto sau kc ang turo mo wag masyado matalino sa school ang kailangan ng bayan natin ay matalino na kayang solusyonan ang mga problema ng bayan."

The group member's post, credited to a certain Toni Tigas Pipeku, came with screenshots of two Facebook status updates allegedly written by Ella's father, Tantan Trinidad Cruz.

In one status visible only to Facebook friends, Tantan supposedly argued that there's a difference between merely reading "history is like tsismis" on the page and hearing how Ella actually said it during her interview with TV reporter MJ Marfori.

In another status with the same privacy setting, Tantan supposedly said he raised his children right. He supposedly noted that it's okay not to excel much in school as long as they're happy and have a lot of money.

The post also has screenshots of election results last May 9, when Tantan ran as mayor of Angat in Bulacan. He ranked a distant third in the mayoral race with 731 votes, a far cry from winner Jowar Bautista's 22,797 votes and even the second placer Jumong Piadozo's 12,175.

To date, the netizen's post already has over 2,000 "Haha" reactions, 160 comments, and 350 shares.

Ella made the already infamous remark when Marfori interviewed her about her role as Irene Marcos in Maid in Malacañang by controversial director Darryl Yap.

Historians and other concerned citizens have since weighed in on the issue when it blew up.

Tantan, meanwhile, has yet to publicly comment on the circulating screenshots of his alleged posts.
