Why Carlos Yulo got down on one knee twice and gave Chloe San Jose 2 engagement rings
Right after getting a "yes" from Chloe San Jose, Carlos Yulo got down on one knee once more, surprising her with a second engagement ring.
The couple announced their engagement on Monday, Sept. 28. Aside from separate social media posts, Chloe shared a video from Carlos' marriage proposal that took place on Dec. 18, 2025.
In her vlog titled "Chloe & Carlos Yulo - Proposal," Carlos can be seen popping the question to his longtime partner with some of their nearest and dearest present to witness the special moment.
"Will you marry me?" he asked Chloe, to which she replied, "Is this real?"
"I’ll ask you again. Chloe Anjeleigh San Jose, will you marry me?" he said.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Chloe said, “Yes, of course, I’ll marry you.”
With her first "yes" still hanging in the air, Carlos got down on one knee again, this time with another ring.
"Again," he said. "Why?" Chloe asked.
"Dahil tinulungan mo akong maabot 'yung pangarap ko," Carlos replied. "Sobrang mahal na mahal kita, mahal. It’s another ring for you."
"I’m really grateful. This is for you. It’s my gift for you," he told Chloe. "So when we link our hands, hindi lang left side. You can do both."
"Bubba, that’s so much na. It's too much," Chloe said. "No, it's not," Carlos replied.
In a sit-down interview in their proposal video, Carlos opened up about how instrumental Chloe was in his journey to his historic double gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"Para sa akin, siya ’yung gold medal ng puso ko, so dalawang engagement ring ’yung binigay ko sa kanya," he said.
Carlos and Chloe have been together since 2020.
In his own engagement announcement on Instagram, Carlos expressed how "truly blessed" he is to have Chloe as his partner. "All I can say and all I can feel is that I am truly blessed. Blessed to love you. Blessed to be loved by you. Blessed to have you as my fiancé and, soon, as my forever," he wrote in a post.
Chloe, for her part, said on IG that she would choose Carlos "in every lifetime." She added, "Now, we get to choose each other for the rest of this one."
