Carlos Yulo has won gold!

The 24-year-old athlete bagged the Philippines a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics as he dominated the gymnastics men's floor exercise finals.

Yulo scored 15.000 at his pet event on Aug. 3, beating out defending champion Artem Dolgopyat of Israel, who finished second with 14.966. Britain's Jake Jarman earned bronze with 14.933.

The Filipino athlete delivered a flawless routine, receiving an 8.400 for execution and 6.600 for difficulty from the judges. He was seen on the floor and in tears after his performance.

This feat makes the 24-year-old athlete the second Filipino athlete to ever win a gold medal at the Olympics after Hidilyn Diaz won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He's also the first to win the top prize for gymnastics.

Yulo made his Olympic debut in Tokyo, finishing 44th overall in the individual all-around.

On Aug 1, Yulo had a 12th-place finish in the all-around finals of the men's artistic gymnastics, one of his three campaigns at this year's games.

He has a chance to take home another gold medal for Team Philippines on Aug. 4 at his final event, the men's vault final.
