It’s been a long time coming—seven years to be exact—but finally, the longstanding idol group BTOB, consisting of Lee Chang-sub, Seo Eun-kwang, Lee Min-hyuk, Im Hyun-sik and Shin Peniel, was able to reunite with their Philippine Melodys on Sunday, April 7 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, the first stop in their Asian fan-concert tour, “Our Dream.”

BTOB (sans their maknae Yook Sung-jae) entertained fans with exhilarating games while also serenading them with 12 of their most memorable songs. It was a night full of warmth and laughter, with the boys making the Melodys happy with their playful banter and blowing the audience away with their powerful voices, proving they are indeed K-Pop’s “healing-dols” (healing idols).

Still reeling from the two-hour fan-con? Read on for the unforgettable moments that made everyone in attendance laugh, cry, and heal with BTOB.

BTOB feeling sorry and grateful for taking too long to return to the Philippines

Speaking to members of the press just a few hours before their fan-con, BTOB could not contain their excitement at the thought of finally seeing their Filipino fans. “Namiss ko kayo sobra!” BTOB’s leader, Eun-kwang enthused, showing off his Tagalog skills. “Sobrang mahal ko kayo.”

“It’s been a long time since we came here to the Philippines as a group. Thank you for waiting for our performance and for supporting us. We only have gratitude for Filipino Melody,” the group’s lead vocalist, Chang-sub added.

BTOB revealing that it’s actually Sung-jae who comes up with ideas for their viral videos

If you’ve been following BTOB on Instagram and TikTok, then you already know they have a penchant for creating the funniest videos and viral challenges on social media. It turns out, their maknae is the brain behind most of the uploads, with Eun-kwang saying Sung-jae has a brilliant mind and that the latter has plenty of ideas when it comes to these kinds of content.

Hyun-sik sharing that he meets Philippine Melodys whenever he visits the country on his personal time

Hyung-sik is passionate about scuba diving, and he’s visited the Philippines several times for different diving trips! He’s been to Apo Island, Cebu, Bohol, and Mindoro, and adds that every visit becomes memorable because he gets to meet Philippine Melodys whenever he’s on vacation.

Eun-kwang listens to P-Pop

Both at the press con (where selected Melodys were present) and fan-con, Eun-kwang delighted fans when he sang a few notes from SB19’s Mapa, sharing that he likes the song and found it amazing. He also knows GENTO and even remembers the song Anak, which he performed with Hyun-sik during the OneK Global Peace Concert in Manila in 2017.

BTOB belting hit after hit and showing off beautiful harmonization and their powerful vocals

From opening the night with The Song to performing fan favorites like PRAY (I’ll Be Your Man), Higher, Day and Night, and Wind And Wish, BTOB really made fans awestruck with their live performances. Melodys wildly screamed whenever the boys hit the high notes or showcased perfect harmony with songs like It’s Okay, Beautiful Pain, and Remember That.

BTOB choosing to combine a fan meet and concert so they can have more interaction with Melodys

BTOB shared that the beauty of holding a fan-con was that they could perform for their fans and have fun with them. To brighten the mood, the boys prepared a heartstopping 99-second relay where each member had to clear a mission—like kicking and catching a soccer ball 10 times, flipping a water bottle in one try, transferring chocolates to another plate using only chopsticks, and more—all while Melodys cheered them on.

Naturally, the boys were able to clear the missions after two tries. And while they didn’t get a prize, they had the love of Melodys to re-energize them for their next performances!

BTOB fulfilling fan requests and bringing the house down with their antics

During another ment, BTOB brought out a board filled with messages from their fans, answering their questions and fulfilling some requests.

Eun-kwang sang the Happy Birthday song for one lucky Melody celebrating her birthday, while Min-hyuk shared that BTOB will “sing and dance for Melody until we die.” Melodys also couldn’t help but feel kilig when Hyun-sik suddenly sang a few verses of Second Confession after a fan requested it, saying that it’s been a long time since they performed the song!

The boys also shared some of the Filipino food they have tried the past few days, with Peniel saying he loved Halo-Halo and its “coconut-y” taste, and Min-hyuk liking sinigang because “it really hits the spot.” Hyung-sik confessed that he eats Buko Pie every time he goes on a diving trip here. Meanwhile, Chang-sub brought the house down when he revealed that he loves San Miguel beer!

Of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without the BTOB making fans laugh with their goofy antics. From Hyun-sik and Min-hyuk trying to say “nakakapagpabagabag” to Changsub saying “Mahal ko kayo!” and hearing Eun-kwang say “Hay naku!” and his iconic “Give up” in person, the boys made Melodys hysterical. Peniel even thanked his hyung Eun-kwang and the latter’s English-speaking skills for making the night so enjoyable.

Melodys showing their love for BTOB through a perfect chant

During the press conference, Hyung-sik mentioned that his favorite song with the most memorable fan chant is Only One For Me. Of course, Melodys did not disappoint by shouting the loudest fan chant when the boys performed the song during the fan-con.

The boys were also visibly touched whenever the fans would sing along to their songs, especially when it was time for Missing You. Melodys’ clear voices filled the Arena beautifully—it brought literal chills!

BTOB endlessly teasing their fans

As the concert wound down to its final moments, BTOB continued to make Philippine Melodys laugh, saying, “Walang uuwi!” Sure enough, they managed to perform two more songs for their encore, encouraging Melodys to get up and groove to Blowin’ Up before finally bidding goodbye with Finale: Our Concert.

Melody and BTOB looking back on their 12-year journey

No fan-con would be complete without a video gift from the fans. Since their debut 12 years ago, Melodys have been by BTOB’s side, and in a compilation video, Philippine Melodys shared what the group meant to them.

For their part, BTOB expressed their gratitude to their Filipino fans, saying that it is because of Melodys that their group could last 12 years. During the press con, Eunkwang shared that it is their fans who give them strength to perform as a group, while Min-hyuk shared that his dream was to continue singing together and have more years with the group and their Melodys.

After making fans wait for so long, BTOB promised that this time around, they will be seeing Philippine Melodys sooner rather than later. We can’t wait for what’s in store for the group, and we’re excited to see them come back with all six members!
