Ketut Permata Juliastrid of Indonesia is Miss Cosmo 2024

The first-ever Miss Cosmo is from Indonesia!

Ketut Permata Juliastrid won the highly coveted title at the Miss Cosmo 2024 pageant on Saturday, Oct. 5. She was followed by Karnruethai Tassabut of Thailand (1st runner-up).

Juliastrid was asked about her contribution to a sustainable society during the question-and-answer round of the tilt. To which, she put the spotlight on her "skills."

"Being Puteri Indonesia of Tourism, I have an advocacy. It’s in sustainable tourism, where I try to preserve culture, because I believe that culture is an important aspect in order for us to be who we really are," she said. "Growing up in Bali, I am surrounded by rich traditional culture. It made me the woman I am today, and I have worked with local artisans, not only giving economic opportunities but also giving them platforms for the younger generation to take pride in their own culture, like how I take pride with my own culture."

"I am a Balinese and I will continue to say that I am a proud Balinese. I am a proud Indonesian, and I am here to make Indonesia proud today. Thank you," she continued.

Philippines' Ahtisa Manalo finished as a Top 10 finalist during the coronation night.

Miss Cosmo 2024 took place in Saigon Riverside Park in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. A total of 56 contestants vied to become the very first queen of the international beauty pageant.
