Armie Hammer not apologizing for sexual preferences amid allegations of rape, cannibalism

Trigger warning: This article contains mention of rape and sexual assault.

Embattled actor Armie Hammer—who has been accused of rape by multiple women but was never charged due to "insufficient evidence"—said he's not apologizing for his sexual preferences, which led to rumors that he's a cannibal. He, however, acknowledged that he was a "selfish a**hole" who played with others' feelings even as he enjoyed bondage.

In a guesting on Your Mom's House podcast on Jan. 1, Hammer said people were "deeply unhappy with their own lives" that they made claims about him eating human flesh.

"The world seemed like it was falling apart," he said. "This salacious story comes around where this actor wants to murder and eat people. All of a sudden, everyone's like, 'Oh, this is so much more fun to focus on than the fact that I can't leave my living room.'"

Hammer also lamented how stories against him "kept coming out and kept coming out and kept coming out."

The 38-year-old actor said he had exchanges with women which, he claimed, were taken out of context.

"If anyone took anyone's bedroom conversations," he said, "specifically if people were having a little bit of sexy time, and they took the s**t that they said—even if it was completely vanilla—and you read that somewhere else out of context, everyone's gonna go, 'You guys are f**ing disgusting.'"

Amid the scandal, Hammer likened the situation to being "left standing there naked in front of the world with all of your proclivities or kinks being judged by the world."

"There was definitely an aspect of your sexuality being weaponized against you," he said. "It makes it really hard for you to feel safe to engage in your own sexuality."

Nevertheless, Hammer said he did enjoy bondage during sex. He also admitted to playing "fast and loose" with other people's feelings.

"I was being a selfish a**hole for sure," he said. "I was using people to make me feel better. People were my bags of dope with skin on it. Having that, having people want to have sex with me, having sex with people, doing all that stuff, it gave me a sense of power. It gave me a sense of validation."

Hammer has been hounded with cannibalism rumors for years.

In June 2024, he broke his silence about the rumors, saying they had caused "an ego death, a career death." He, however, said he's grateful to have gone through them.

In 2021, multiple women accused Hammer of rape and harassment. He also allegedly made death threats and was emotionally abusive.

One of them also called him "100% a cannibal," as he allegedly told the woman that he would "drink [her] blood."

But in 2023, media outlets reported that Hammer wouldn't be facing sexual assault charges due to "insufficient evidence."

Hammer is known for his roles in The Social Network, The Lone Ranger, and Call Me By Your Name. He also made appearances in Arrested Development, Desperate Housewives, Reaper, and Gossip Girl.
