Reality TV star Sam Gardiner dies at 24
Sam Gardiner, who appeared in reality television show Race Across the World, has died aged 24.
His parents, Jo and Andrew, confirmed his death in a statement obtained by PEOPLE Magazine.
"Sam left us far too soon, and whilst words will never fully capture the light, joy and energy he brought into our lives, we hold on to the memories that made him so special," they said, describing him as "loyal, funny and fiercely protective."
"Sam brought warmth, laughter and a smattering of chaos wherever he went. He leaves behind a huge hole in our hearts. We will miss him endlessly, but we’ll also remember him with smiles, tall tales, and a depth of love that will never fade," they continued.
According to PEOPLE Magazine, the Greater Manchester Police said that Sam died in a car accident in Manchester, England, where he was supposed to visit his relatives. The car he was in "veered off the road and rolled before landing on its side." He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
Per authorities, Sam's family is now being supported by specially trained officers.
Sam appeared in the second season of Race Across the World with his mother, where they explored different parts of South America with no phones. He was 19 then. He later worked as a landscape gardener in Scotland.
Sam is survived by his parents, stepmother Justine, as well as his siblings Charlie and William.
