Kayla Jean Carter is the new Miss Charm Philippines 2024
The Miss Philippines has recently announced that Filipino-American beauty queen Kayla Jean Carter will be the new Miss Charm Philippines 2024.
This came after former titleholder Krishnah Gravidez announced earlier in June that she was officially withdrawing from the international competition.
On its social media pages, the local pageant organizer said that Carter will represent the country in the international pageant, which will be held in the United States on August 24.
"You never know what plan the universe has in store for you. Everything happens for a reason, and in its own divine timing. That night I felt so fulfilled and grateful for my placement. Not only that, I was so happy to see the friends I have built a bond with be able to win, and advance further," Carter wrote in an Instagram story on July 6.
"To me, it felt like winning being able to watch them have their moment. And now as fate would have it, I get to have a little of my own. Couldn't feel more grateful, thank you everyone."
According to TMP's post, the 27-year-old Fil-Am beauty queen has familial roots in Talisay, Cebu, and represented Northern California in Miss Universe Philippines 2024.
Regarding eligibility, she was one of the ten delegates who competed for four titles in The Miss Philippines and was "one of the highest-ranking delegates who was eligible for the titles." Hence, the local pageant organizer agreed to consider her for the title.
"As one of the highest ranking delegates who meets all other requirements, Carter was easily the best choice. Not having to worry about securing a US Visa meant that she could immediately focus on planning and preparation for the competition," the Miss Philippines said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Gravidez passed on her title last May 22, after Pampanga's Cyrille Payumo was named Miss Charm Philippines during the Miss Universe Philippines coronation night.
At that time, the organizers said Cyrille would compete in 2025 because Gravidez's competition had yet to be held.
