Megan Fox on drinking Machine Gun Kelly's blood for a ritual: 'What is so gross?'
Megan Fox has addressed those who accused her of being “satanic” following her controversial engagement ritual with Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), which included drinking each other’s blood.
The actress talked about the issue in her guest appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, saying their engagement ritual was a “misunderstood thing” by the public.
"Everything is a matter of what you're accustomed to or what is currently socially acceptable or normal,” she said. The Jennifer’s Body star went on to compare their ritual to children’s “ceremony” on becoming "blood brothers" as depicted in TV and films, where two best friends strengthen their bond by combining their blood together.
"That's not satanic, right? That's normal and that's cute and sweet. That's like an innocent little bond between kids who love each other and they have a pure friendship," she said.
"It's like that, except instead of rubbing your fingers together, the drop of blood goes in your mouth,” she continued, adding, “I don’t why that becomes satanic.”
For the 37-year-old actress, it’s more “disgusting” when people ingest other bodily fluids as their sexual preference, as compared to her and MGK’s ritual.
"Honestly, though, it's a matter of perspective. What is so gross about what I did with my soulmate?” she added.
Megan also shared how she was raised like a Pentecostal Christian, and stressed that she has "never been part of a satanic ritual.”
“I don't, I'm not currently like a part of the church, but I definitely identify with Christ consciousness and I'm actually a very spiritual positive person,” she explained.
“Except for recently, I've been going through it a little bit in terms of positivity, but definitely I have never been a part of a Satanic ritual,” she continued, noting that she doesn’t know people who have been part of one.
Megan and MGK started dating in 2020 after meeting on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass. They made headlines in January 2022 when they announced their engagement, sharing that they drank each other’s blood as part of their engagement ritual.
In her interview with British Glamour in April 2022, she clarified that they only consumed a drop of each other’s blood.
"So, I guess to 'drink' each other's blood might mislead people or people are imagining us with goblets and we're like Game of Thrones, drinking each other's blood. It's just a few drops, but yes, we do consume each other's blood on occasion for ritual purposes only,” she said at the time.
