BTS’ Suga initiates military enlistment process
Suga of iconic K-pop group BTS has officially begun preparing for his mandatory military service.
In a statement released on Monday, Aug. 7, the group's label, BIGHIT MUSIC, wrote that the K-pop idol has initiated the process by "applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement."
"We will inform you of further updates in due course," it added.
The agency asked fans for their "continued love and support" for the singer "until he completes his military service and safely returns."
"Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artist," BIGHIT continued.
Suga will be the third BTS member to enlist in the South Korean military, following Jin and J-hope. He wrapped up his D-DAY world tour on Aug. 6.
According to South Korean laws, "those who are healthy enough to perform active or supplementary service are to be enlisted for active duty service, supplementary service, or the wartime labor service, based on their qualifications, such as educational background and age."
