Alex Gonzaga details pregnancy journey as she welcomes first child

Alex Gonzaga is officially a mom!

After years of hoping to start a family and experiencing three pregnancy losses, Gonzaga has welcomed her first child with husband Mikee Morada. The actress took the time to share her journey on her YouTube channel.

The experience had not been easy, as she revealed that she suffered from a small opening in her cervix in late June that required her to be on total bed rest. Fortunately, she later announced that her cervix had closed.

However, another issue arose when Alex found out that she had gestational diabetes, which is a type of high blood sugar that develops during pregnancy in women who did not have diabetes before. Because of this, she had to seek medical attention and make healthier food choices to control her blood sugar.

"Parang si Lord lang talaga 'yung nagsabi sa akin to check my sugar. Iba lang 'yung feeling ko na sobra akong nagca-crave ng sugar. Tapos sobra akong malamlay, sluggish lagi. Biglang naisip ko lang mag-check ng sugar, tapos doon ko lang na-realize na tumataas 'yung sugar ko," she said.

"Ang dami talagang pwedeng maging complication sa baby na hindi mo mararamdaman, pero mararamdaman ni baby. Pwedeng mayroong long-term effect na complication, 'yung iba deadly," she added.

Despite these issues, Alex highlighted that her baby had been growing well inside her tummy.

"I'm so thankful, and I'm so happy," she highlighted. "Now that God blessed us with this baby, I'm very, very happy and excited because I will bring an addition to this loving family, and I know that my baby will be well-loved."

Toward the end of the vlog, Alex gave viewers a glimpse of her time in the hospital before ending the video with the sound of her newborn baby crying.

"Thank you, Jesus!" she captioned at the end.

This is Alex's fourth pregnancy with her husband.

In October 2021, the couple had their first miscarriage due to a blighted ovum, wherein the embryo failed to develop. A second one happened in October 2023 during an IVF procedure. A third miscarriage happened in December 2024 with the same complication as the first.

Alex and Mikee started dating in 2017. The two announced that they were engaged in January 2020 before revealing to have tied the knot in January 2021.
