Derek Ramsay defends friend dragged in Philmar Alipayo-Andi Eigenmann feud, asks Philmar to 'have the balls to be a man'
Derek Ramsay called out Philmar Alipayo and Andi Eigenmann as their social media feud led to the public ridicule of a Swedish woman, their common friend who was accused of being a homewrecker.
In the vlog of Ogie Diaz posted on YouTube on Feb. 12, Derek defended Pernilla Sjoö, whom he said has been receiving threats from users following the incident.
Pernilla got a matching tattoo with Philmar, leading to Andi and Philmar unfollowing each other on Instagram and exchanging cryptic Story entries. (Andi clarified that Philmar didn't cheat on her with Pernilla.)
"Ang mali dito is irresponsible posting. Acting on emotions without thinking. Just jumping the gut," Derek said.
"Sorry Andi, I'm sorry. For me, you should haven't done that. Kung galit ka, naiintindihan ko 'yun, nasa kultura ng Filipino 'yun. Mali na nagpatattoo sila together. Mali," he said.
But Derek noted that Pernilla getting a tattoo with Philmar didn't mean that she was trying to be with him.
"She didn't do it with the intent to steal [Philmar] which is now the tsismis, di ba? May inaagaw," the actor said.
He said he had to speak up as he got a supposed warning to be careful as Pernilla would supposedly "steal" him from his wife, Ellen Adarna.
"Nadamay na kami ni Ellen," he said.
Derek told Andi, his co-star in the 2012 film A Secret Affair, that she should've fixed things with her husband in private instead of posting online.
"Andi, mali ka," he said. "Babae ka, hindi kita aawayin, may respeto ako, pero magsasalita talaga ako dahil mali 'yun. Kung mali ka, magalit ka. May karapatan kang magalit. Harapin mo."
Derek then blasted Philmar and his statement that he and Andi were already okay.
"What does he say? 'Okay na kami. This should have been handled in private. Sana okay na rin kayo.' Hindi ako okay, kasama kami sa kayo," he said.
Derek told Philmar that since Pernilla is their close friend, he should have apologized for hurting her.
"Why don't you show some decency and show some respect to Pernilla and clear her name," he said.
Derek noted that Pernilla is a "very private person" but she's "crying her heart out every day" and her mental health is "so affected" by the issue.
He noted that Pernilla, who has a permanent residency in the Philippines, might undergo investigation following the incident.
She also cannot go to work for fear of getting attacked in public. Pernilla's boyfriend, according to Derek, is also having problems because he has to look after her.
"If may problema ka within your family, handle it in private," he said. "You are going to look stupid at the end of the day when you put this all out and a week later, you'll post a picture na you're in paradise."
He is hoping for Philmar to "have the balls to be a man."
"Magpakalalaki ka, ayusin mo ang problema mo sa asawa mo," he said. "Unahin mo 'yan, tama ka diyan, pero 'wag mong bastusin 'yung tao na tumulong sa 'yo sa lahat ng problema mo. Ipagtanggol mo 'yung tao."
Derek warned that Philmar lost a "good friend" in Pernilla.
"Still, do what's right," Derek added. "Grow some balls. Di kita kaaway. Just grow some balls."
Assumed breakup
Andi and Philmar made headlines when social media users speculated about their breakup after noticing they unfollowed each other on Instagram.
The split rumors intensified when Andi posted several cryptic Instagram stories, including the Year of the Snake being supposedly the "year of the wolf in sheep's clothing," trusting the process, and backstabbing.
She also lamented how she and Philmar argued when he got a matching tattoo with a "female friend," whom she didn't name.
"[N]o normal person with good intentions would think it's okay for a 'friend' to encourage someone else's husband to do this without considering the partner's feelings," she noted.
Andi, however, said that when she and Philmar are fighting, she would "always want to choose and be okay" with him.
Philmar, for his part, seemingly confirmed that their relationship was on the rocks at the time. He noted that he wouldn't deny anything as the rumors were all true.
"Kilala niyo naman ako kung ano pagkatao ko, so siguro kilala niyo na kung ano siya. Hindi na kailangang pahabain pa," he said in another post. "You all can call me a cheater and ugly now. Pero salamat sa mga taong hindi na nagmessage sa akin dahil kilala ako."
Pernilla came forward after her name was dragged into the issue, reminding the public to "[n]ever judge someone without knowing the whole story."
Days after the issue went viral, Philmar shared a Facebook Reel of him spending quality time with Andi and their two children, Lilo and Koa.
"It all went [too] far and should have been handled in private,” Philmar wrote in the caption. "Ok na kami sanan ok ra kami."
Andi and Philmar didn't provide details on how they fixed things.
The couple first went public with their relationship in 2018. They got engaged two years later.
In April 2024, they said their wedding would be postponed following the death of Andi's mother Jaclyn Jose in March of that year.
