Sadie Sink says she didn't get script for 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' until London shoot

Sadie Sink is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as she stars in a mystery role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The Stranger Things alum revealed how secretive and closely guarded her part is in the superhero movie in an interview with Nylon.

In the interview, the publication stated that Sink wasn't even privy to details about her character. The 24-year-old was offered a role without going through an audition by Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton, with whom she worked on the 2017 film The Glass Castle. Sink didn't even get the script until she landed in London for the shoot.

The actress told Nylon that she had no trouble keeping the secret. "You just don't share the secret; it's not that hard," she said.

"I knew that Marvel was a big deal and had a big brand, especially Spider-Man. I know there's a huge fan base, but it feels really big. I think these blockbuster movies are a whole different beast."

Spider-Man star Tom Holland helped ease her into the MCU, she shared.

"It was interesting stepping into that space and being a little bit of an outsider in that way, but he could not have been more welcoming, and just the whole crew in general. He was just so relaxed and open, and I felt very at ease," Sink said.

Sink and Holland join the rest of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast, which also includes Zendaya as MJ Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner.

The film picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), when Peter Parker asked Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to make his identity as Spider-Man a secret. After the spell goes wrong, the world—including his girlfriend MJ and best friend Ned—forgets about Peter instead.

In Brand New Day, Peter fights as Spider-Man full-time and watches his friends move on in their lives without him. This sparks a change in him that he struggles to control.

The new Marvel flick swings into cinemas on July 29.
