Karla Estrada speaks up on news she confirmed Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo’s split: 'Ito'y walang katotohanan'
Karla Estrada has issued a statement stomping claims that she confirmed her son Daniel Padilla's split from his longtime girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo.
On her Facebook account, the actress shared a report that quoted showbiz talk show host Cristy Fermin purporting that Karla had confirmed the breakup.
Karla sought to clarify her involvement online and asserted that what Cristy said was untrue.
"Ito po ay walang katotohanan. Kailan man ay hindi ko pang hihimasukan o pangungunahan ang personal na buhay ng mga anak ko," she wrote.
Cristy's statement came from a recent episode of Showbiz Now Na, which she co-hosts with Romel Chika and Wendell Alvarez. She said: "Maninindigan kaming tatlo na hiwalay na po talaga sina Daniel Padilla at si Kathryn Bernardo. Umamin na po si Karla Estrada sa isa niyang kaibigan na wala na, tapos na."
Before the veteran showbiz columnist discussed the possible reasons that led to the breakup with her co-hosts, she clarified that these were merely assumptions and that they did not come from Karla herself.
However, Cristy said, "'Yung pangako sa inyo na nandiyan pa rin sila at sila pa rin, ayaw po namin ang mga huwad na pangako. Magising po tayo sa katotohanan na hanggang dito na lamang sila, at yan naman po ay nanggaling sa bibig mismo ng ina ni Daniel Padilla."
Despite the rumors, Cristy hoped that Daniel and Kathryn would be able to mend their relationship.
"Malay naman natin, kung magpapahinga lang sila ng ilang panahon, at isang araw ay magigising sila na kailangan pa rin nila ang isa't isa," she said.
The rumored breakup between Kathryn and Daniel was first brought up by talent manager Ogie Diaz through his supposed source. While he clarified there was no confirmation regarding this, Ogie cited an insider again as he mentioned the name of Andrea Brillantes, who’s supposedly secretly meeting with Daniel.
Since then, there have been some developments that further fueled the rumors, such as Andrea appearing to have unfollowed Kathryn on Instagram amid the issue. In turn, Kathryn, along with her celebrity friends Loisa Andalio and Miles Ocampo, had also cut the communication lines with Andrea.
Kathryn and Daniel debuted as a love team in 2011 for the teleserye Growing Up and have since starred in more shows and movies. They confirmed their relationship in 2018.
