Lindsay Lohan's new TikTok might prove you've been pronouncing her name wrong all this time

Published Feb 24, 2022 8:07 pm

2000s film queen Lindsay Lohan is just one of the many celebrities joining the popular video-sharing app TikTok, but her debut itself isn't what's making fans stir.

In her first video on the platform, the actress verified her account by sharing a quick clip greeting her followers.

"Hey everyone. It’s Lindsay Lohan, and guess what? Now I’m on TikTok," the 35-year-old briefly greeted. While many were thrilled to see a familiar childhood face on the app, some pointed out how Lohan actually pronounced her surname.

In the video, she rushed past her last name, to the point that the wrongly pronounced "Lohan" can be heard as "Lo-wen," as she emphasizes the phonetic E rather than the latter A.

Her followers were quick to rush to the comments section with their discovery.

"I'm sorry ive said your name wrong my entire life," one user said.

"U pronounced ur name wrong," another mentioned.

Meanwhile, another user referenced other celebrity surnames that the public has gotten wrong in the past: "LOWEN? LOUTNER? GRANDEE? Okay they gotta be messing with us at this point."

In past interviews such as her guesting stint in the David Letterman Show last 2013, it can be heard that the star's last name has always been pronounced as "Lowen."

Meanwhile, Lindsay seems to be enjoying her time on the app, as she's gone on to share ads on her account and even dubbed a scene from her hit 1998 film The Parent Trap. The recent video now has over 13 million views and 2.3 million likes.
