Kris Aquino promises kids she will 'fight until the end' amid health issues
Kris Aquino is holding on to hope despite her ongoing health battle, vowing to stay strong for the sake of her two sons, Josh and Bimby.
In an Instagram post on Aug. 1, the actress commemorated the 17th death anniversary of her mother, former president Corazon Aquino.
"We accepted her death intellectually because we witnessed how much she suffered. But can someone you cherished ever be forgotten? Until now, when I watch families in conflict, I say 'Sorry mom, you never deserved any of that,'" Kris began.
She shared that Bimby, who has been serving as a guest host at Eat Bulaga, left TVJ’s 47th anniversary celebration early to accompany her for a new treatment. Josh, meanwhile, went to the Manila Memorial, where Cory is buried.
She then gave an update on her condition, recalling the physical pain and failed treatments she has endured while assuring her sons that she would keep fighting.
"I promised my sons I was going to fight until the end. I have never given details about the treatments that failed, the nights I cried until sunrise because the bones from three inches above my knee all the way to my ankle and up to the soles of my [feet] hurt with such cruelty that I broke my rule and sobbed in Bimb’s arms," Kris wrote.
"No child, especially one raised by a single parent, should ever see the pain their mama or papa goes through because to worry is ours and not theirs," she added.
Kris went on to recount a time when she hadn't slept for three nights and was unable to hide her pain from Josh.
"I buried my head further under the comforter not wanting him to see how much tissue I wasn’t fast enough to hide. Kuya saw my tear-streaked face. He pleaded, 'Mama please don’t cry, I love you, I’ll make you bantay. Mama here’s my arm,'" she said.
"Kuya knew being cradled in his left arm and lying down where I can almost hear his heartbeat is a source of comfort that gives me hope and reminds me just for whom I continue to fight," she continued.
As she prepares for another infusion treatment, Kris made a wish to Cory to look after her.
"Mom, please continue looking after your baby? Because I have 6’3 and 6’2 giant babies who pray every day and believe that God does answer prayers," Kris ended.
Kris has been open about her ongoing battle with multiple autoimmune conditions, regularly updating supporters about her treatment and recovery. She received treatment in the United States from June 2022 to September 2024 before returning to the Philippines.
Now that her health is gradually improving, Kris has expressed interest in reigniting her showbiz career. She previously shared that she misses doing interviews as she teased a possible video podcast of her own, with the goal of doing interviews with other people regularly.
