Madonna, Elton John put end to decades-long feud
Madonna and Elton John have made amends after their decades-long feud.
The Vogue singer took to social media to share a photo with John from when she visited the set of Saturday Night Live on April 5.
"We finally buried the hatchet!" she said on April 8.
"Over the decades, it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist. I didn't understand it."
When Madonna heard the Tiny Dancer singer was the musical guest on the sketch comedy live show, she decided to go to "confront" him. However, things went down a different path.
"When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, 'Forgive me,' and the wall between us fell down," the Material Girl artist shared, adding that they were hugging within minutes.
"He told me [he] had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!" she added.
The feud between the two musical icons began in 2002 when John was quoted by CBS News as calling Madonna's Die Another Day as the "worst Bond tune ever."
In 2004, he accused her of lip syncing and said, "Madonna, best live act? F**k off" at the Q Awards. The Like A Virgin singer's camp denied that she lip-synced.
John again slammed Madonna at the 2012 Golden Globes when he said she didn't "stand a f*****g chance" for the best original song award.
In her recent post, Madonna sang nothing but praises when she talked about the Rocket Man singer.
"Seeing him perform when I was in high school changed the course of my life. I had always felt like an outsider growing up and watching him on stage helped me to understand that it was OK to be different—to stand out—to take the road less traveled."
John shared Madonna's post in his Instagram stories, writing, "A healing moment."
