Maiqui Pineda on Robi Domingo's birthday wish to have a baby: 'It’s both our goals, wishes'
Maiqui Pineda has reacted to her husband Robi Domingo’s viral video, where he turned emotional as he shared his 35th birthday wishes: for Maiqui to heal from her rare autoimmune disease and for them to welcome a child together when the time comes.
In a Sept. 30 Q&A session with her Instagram followers, Maiqui shared her reaction to Robi's birthday clip and noted she has "no issues at all" with his post.
“I’ve openly mentioned it here before, but he has a bigger reach,” she wrote. “It’s both our goals, our plans, and our wishes but we acknowledge the reality of things and have chosen to trust in God’s plans and timings instead. But we are hopeful! Just have to wait a bit and do some work for now.”
Another follower also told her not to be pressured to get pregnant, to which Maiqui said that “no one has made [her] feel that way.”
“But I know it’s what I want so I’m just doing what I can to hopefully make that happen one day,” she continued.
This came after Robi’s emotional video for his 35th birthday received flak from social media users. While some said he was simply expressing his desire to be a father, others pointed out that it could put Maiqui under pressure to have a baby. Some also called him "insensitive" since Maiqui is currently battling dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes muscle weakness, inflammation, and skin rash.
"Nakaka-kasa na ako na by this year, actually by this month, sana mayroon na akong anak 'di ba? And it happened, it's hard," Robi said in the video, referring to how he and Maiqui learned about the latter's dermatomyositis last year.
Staying silent for a moment as he fought back tears, the host said, "Maybe it's not time yet, not yet. But I am hoping na mangyari 'yun."
"First things first, I want Maiqui's sickness to be gone so we can go back to our original plan. It's my wish for my birthday, it's not for me anymore," he highlighted.
Robi and Maiqui got married in January earlier this year. They were college batchmates at the Ateneo de Manila University. They confirmed their romance in 2018 and announced their engagement four years later.
