Robi Domingo's wife Maiqui Pineda shared that her hair is growing back amid her battle with a rare autoimmune disease.

In a now-expired Instagram story, the newlywed bride posted a mirror selfie to show her baby hair and give an update on her condition.

“I lost and am still losing a lot of hair but you can see all the baby hair growing and sticking out on top,” she wrote, adding, “I hope my hair grows back.”

Maiqui Pineda's health update

Maiqui first opened up about her rare autoimmune disease in August, saying she was diagnosed with dermatomyositis last July 14 after several tests and medical exams. The disease, she shared, caused her inflammation, a skin rash, and muscle weakness that made it hard for her to perform daily activities.

She also said that her health condition may also lead to Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), which is a risk factor for lung scarring. According to medical website Mayo Clinic, the cause of her disease is unknown, but several factors including stress, virus, and the environment can trigger it.

"Sadly, there is no long-term cure for autoimmune diseases, but they can be managed and treated," she said.

Maiqui got engaged to Robi in Japan in November 2022 after four years of dating. They tied the knot in a Pinoy-themed church wedding on Jan. 6.
