Robi Domingo turned emotional as he opened up about his 35th birthday wish to have a baby with his wife Maiqui Pineda, who is currently battling a rare autoimmune disease.

On his Instagram account, the events host posted a two-part video of himself where he bared his one wish on his special day, highlighting in the caption, "I think I’m ready for it... in His perfect time."

"I'm having some birthday blues, some people say it's time na nararamdaman mo nang 'Okay tumatanda ka na,' but also, it's a time na pwede kang mag-reflect sa buhay mo and that's what am I gonna do right now," Robi began.

"My plan in the next five years is to be a better house-band and husband and hopefully next year, when the Lord permits it and when her condition permits it, depende sa clearance ng doctors, I hope to introduce you to a baby Robi as well or baby Maiqui or why not twins, him her," he shared.

He promised his future child that he is "so ready to give all the love" to them before opening up about his worries for his family's future.

"I'm a man with a plan all the time, talagang naka-ayos iyan, but last year was really a blow sa puso ko and questioned me 'Ano ba ang nangyayari, ano bang mangyayari?' especially with Maiqui," Robi said.

"Nakaka-kasa na ako na by this year, actually by this month, sana mayroon na akong anak 'di ba? And it happened, it's hard," he continued, referring to how he and Maiqui learned about the latter's dermatomyositis last year.

Staying silent for a moment as he fought back tears, Robi eventually lamented, "Maybe it's not time yet, not yet. But I am hoping na mangyari 'yun."

"First things first, I want Maiqui's sickness to be gone so we can go back to our original plan. It's my wish for my birthday, it's not for me anymore," he highlighted.

Maiqui opened up about her condition in August 2023, having been diagnosed with the disease last a month prior after several tests and medical exams. Her illness causes a person to have muscle weakness, inflammation, and skin rash.

Her autoimmune disease, she explained, may also lead to Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), which is a risk factor for lung scarring. The cause of her condition is unknown though it can be triggered by several factors including stress, virus, and the environment.

"Sadly, there is no long-term cure for autoimmune diseases but they can be managed and treated," she said.

Robi and Maiqui tied the knot with each other in January earlier this year. They were college batchmates at the Ateneo de Manila University. They confirmed their romance in 2018 and announced their engagement four years later.
