Selena Gomez has opened up about how she feels about her new status as a billionaire.

In case you missed it, Bloomberg Billionaires Index reported last month that the actress has reached a fortune worth $1.3 billion (P73 billion), making her one of the youngest female self-made billionaires in the US.

"I’m very grateful," Gomez told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet premiere of her new film, Emilia Pérez.

Despite this, she is choosing to stay humble as she admitted that it's unpleasant for her to talk about her wealth, which was largely thanks to profits from her own make-up company, Rare Beauty.

"I personally think it’s distasteful to talk about money, but I really am giving all the credit to people who buy the products," Gomez highlighted.

"They’re the ones that made this dream of mine come true, so I’m really, really honored and just happy," she added.

Bloomberg estimated that her cosmetics brand has a stake in worth more than $1 billion (P56 billion) and comprises 81% of Gomez's money.

Rare Beauty was launched on Sept. 3, 2020 in stores in North America. Since then, it has been made available to countries in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Aside from this, the actress is also making a significant income from brand endorsements, touring, her mental health startup Wondermind, albums, acting, streaming, and real estate.

Particularly, her deals with Puma are said to be worth $30 million (P1.6 billion), and $10 million (P562 million) with Coach.

Gomez now joins the ranks of fellow musicians Taylor Swift and Rihanna, who catapulted to billionaire status in 2023 and 2021 respectively, and couple Jay Z and Beyoncé who reached the milestone in 2017.

She is currently set to return for the upcoming Disney television series Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, which is a spin-off and sequel to 2007's Wizards of Waverly Place.
