Maxene Magalona 'grateful' to reconnect with mom Pia, brother Elmo: 'Incredibly healing'
Maxene Magalona said she’s “forever grateful” for being able to reconnect with her family after a period of being apart, describing their reunion as “incredibly healing.”
The actress-yoga and meditation teacher took to Instagram on Wednesday, Aug. 7 to share a snap from her recent lunch date with her mom, Pia, and brother, Elmo.
“You know what’s incredibly healing? Reconnecting with family and just having a good time catching up, laughing uncontrollably about funny memories and telling each other how proud you are of one another,” she wrote in the caption of her post.
“Forever grateful for these moments and hoping that we have more with the rest of the family,” she continued. “Thanking God for bringing us back together in His perfect time.”
She concluded her post by thanking Pia for their lunch date.
“I enjoyed hanging out with you and Elmo. See you again soon,” she wrote, adding pink hearts emoji.
Pia also shared a photo of them in her Instagram story with the caption, "Nice meeting you."
This comes almost a month after Maxene revealed she took some time off from her family as part of her healing process.
She shared that she learned how to let go of things that are no longer healthy for her. “Part of the healing journey is cutting ties with relationships, kahit family pa 'yan, na hindi na nakakabuti para sa inyong pareho, para sa inyong dalawa,” she said in an episode of Updated with Nelson Canlas podcast.
“I kept a healthy distance from my family for a while so that I can find myself, so that I can understand myself, saan nanggagaling 'yung pain,” she added.
The local star admitted that while it was “one of the most painful things,” she stressed that “it was very much needed.”
Maxene also shared that she and her sister, Saab, reconciled and reconnected last year.
In March, Pia shared a photo of their family, including Maxene, during the 15th death anniversary of their father, “King of Pinoy rap” Francis M.
