Bretman Rock recalls 'disappointing' encounter with Vanessa Hudgens at Coachella
Bretman Rock has finally addressed his supposed beef with Vanessa Hudgens, sharing that his ill feelings towards her started when he encountered her at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
During his guest appearance on the Sweet or Savory Podcast hosted by Alyssa & AJ Rafael, the content creator was asked who his "most disappointing celebrity encounter" was, to which he outright admitted that it was Vanessa.
"I don't like her. I met her at Coachella, and we were both there for Sugar Bear Hair. This was like young me, like short hair still me. So, I think like 2017 down, I think maybe 2018 even," he said.
According to Bretman, he was on his way to pick up tickets for the Coachella when she spotted Vanessa talking to the CEO of Sugar Bear Hair.
"I was friends with the Sugar Bear Hair CEO because I've been to his house, we would talk, and I remembered her talking to him. Obviously, I was trying to get his attention, so I'm like waving at him. Not at her, and she literally looks at me and tries to hide," he recounted.
"I'm like, 'First of all, I'm not saying hi to you. I was always Team Sharpay.' Let's just get that out of the way," he joked, referring to a character in the movie High School Musical, which Vanessa starred in.
"Second of all, you're not even Mexican. And third of all, I'm not a fan," he continued. "And then, she had a second person there. I think it was her assistant 'cause I don't know who she was. And she grabs her hand and makes her stand in front of her to kind of block [me] because at that point like I was walking towards them to say hi to the CEO."
Bretman said he was offended by Vanessa's actions.
"I was not f-----g saying hi to you. There's no reason for you to be hiding or having to have your assistant hide you because the only ones here are the ones invited," he said. "I know time and place. As somebody who has also been around famous people, especially at that time, I know when to ask for a photo and when to not," he said.
"You're not above me, I'm not under you. I'm literally like, 'Damn, I'm Filipino, but you can't even like your own people?'" he added.
For years, fans have been speculating on the apparent feud between the two, especially after instances where Bretman appeared to throw shade at Vanessa.
For instance, he commented on how the actress would fail to correctly pronounce "Palawan" when she visited the place during a tourism campaign for the Philippine government in 2023.
