'Boy Meets World' star Trina McGee announces fourth pregnancy at 54
Former sitcom star Trina McGee is expecting her fourth baby at age 54.
The actress took to Instagram on Wednesday, June 5 to announce the good news.
"At the tender age of 54 I have found myself pregnant. Please bless us with your prayers for a safe delivery,” Trina wrote.
In her interview with American news outlets, the actress expressed her surprise, especially given that she’s going through menopause.
“I couldn’t really believe it; I had my tubes tied and I was a year into menopause,” she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “This is a miracle baby.”
She shared that she went to Belize and talked to shamans, and was later able to come up with a natural remedy to help balance her hormones and get her pregnant.
"Honestly, I didn't think it was such a big deal, and suddenly I realized it's very inspirational for a lot of women who are over 40, who are looking to conceive," she added, as per the Good Morning America report.
"When I was typing [my Instagram post], that's what I was feeling, like there's somebody out there that is dealing with this that might need a little help and inspiration,” she continued.
As women get older, their bodies start to conceive longer and the chances of getting pregnant reduce. According to the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) said that a woman's fertility peaks during her teenage years to her 20s. It starts to decline by the time she reaches 30 and would decrease further by her mid-30s.
It added that chances of getting pregnant naturally at age 45 are deemed uncommon.
As per the sex of the baby, Trina said she opt to wait and find out about it until she gives birth.
In the caption, she said that she would take time off from social media for a while. She explained to ET that this was due to negative comments, mostly pointing out she was too old for pregnancy.
Trina has been married to actor Marcello Thedford for 16 years. They met in the production of Sylvester Stallone’s action-thriller movie, Daylight. They share three children Ramia, Langston, and Ezra.
She is notable for her role as Angela Moore in the 90s sitcom Boy Meets World. Her other shows and films include Daylight, Friday After Next, and The Sinbad Show.
