'He's getting healthier': BTS' Jin reaches peak weight during military service

By Ratziel San Juan Published Mar 28, 2023 1:17 pm

Jin, the eldest member of BTS and the first to start his military enlistment requirement, has significantly gained weight during his mandatory service.

This is according to his bandmate Jimin, who recently appeared as a special guest on YouTube talk show SuChwiTa (Time to Drink With SUGA).

Jimin and J-Hope were previously able to visit Jin but Suga was busy at the time.

After Jimin said that Jin now weighed 66 kilograms, a surprised Suga responded, "Isn't that the most he's weighed in his entire life?"

"Yeah, Jin hyung (male of senior age) never went over 63 kilograms before," Jimin, who has also opened up about weight struggles, confirmed.

Suga, in turn, responded positively: "He's getting healthier."

All seven members have since reunited for Jin, who is currently on vacation before resuming his military duties. The K-pop idol's official discharge date is on June 12, 2024.

BTS is presently taking a hiatus from group activities, during which they will focus on solo projects and fulfill their military enlistment requirements. The group is widely considered South Korea's biggest-ever cultural phenomenon, recognized by the Guinness World Records as the "most popular group in the world."
