Singer Gigi De Lana was scammed after a car accident in May. The scammers stole money from her bank account, which was intended for her mother's medical expenses.

In her Facebook post on Tuesday, June 20, the 27-year-old singer lamented how she fell victim to scams and appealed to the public to be kinder.

“Please be kind. Simula ng naaksidente kami from car accident[,] ang dami na nang scam sakin. [N]inakawan ako sa BDO kinuha lahat ng laman na pang medical bills sana yun ni mama. Kaso wala kayo awa,” she said.

“Sinabihan pa ako sa phone call ng ‘[G]et well soon po kay [Ma’am] Gigi’ tapos after 'nun ninakawan na ako ng tuloy tuloy hanggang sa maubos laman. [G]rabe kayo. Di na kayo naawa,” she detailed the incident, adding “Please wag kayo mang scam or magnakaw.”

Gigi also addressed bashers who claimed she was faking her injuries. In the same post, she shared photos of her arm after the accident, which showed a large bruise.

“Nga pala ito itsura ko nung after a few days maaksidente. Sa mga hindi alam na ganito kalala and hinusgahan ako na nag inarte ako, please be kinder. Love you all still,” she said.

Last May, Gigi and her bandmates figured in a car accident on the way to their show in Ilocos Norte. The driver fell asleep and hit a truck, and Gigi, who was sleeping in a lying position in the car, was thrown off into the driver's seat.

“Nakahiga po kasi ako nung nangyari ‘yung accident, so tumilapon po ako doon sa driver’s seat,” she recounted.

None of them sustained severe injuries and were all given medical clearance to perform. However, that evening, Gigi collapsed mid-performance. “Talaga pong nahilo na lang [at] naramdaman ko ‘yung sakit tapos hindi ko po makontrol ‘yung boses ko,” she recalled.

The Sakalam singer is taking a two-month break from performing after the car accident. During her break, she has been selling her pre-loved clothes and other personal items on Facebook and through livestreams to raise money for the medical expenses of mom who is battling stage four breast cancer.
