Hidilyn Diaz's wedding gown will be created by A-list designer Francis Libiran
Famed fashion designer Francis Libiran will have another world-renowned Filipina donning his creations: The country's first Olympic gold medalist, Hidilyn Diaz.
In an Instagram post, the designer shared that he has been chosen as the official designer of the upcoming wedding of Hidilyn Diaz and her fiancé and longtime coach, Julius Naranjo.
"Love is Golden. The World Champion deserves only the gold standard in fashion design on her special day," Libiran's Instagram account wrote along with a photo of the designer, Hidilyn, and Julius. Another photo showcases the athlete looking over possible designs.
Arsi Baltazar, Libiran's business partner and the CEO of Francis Libiran Advocate Global Holdings Corporation (FLAG Holdings) also took to social media to share the exciting news.
"Indeed, [Francis Libiran] and I are so thrilled for this huge milestone project with you!! It is absolutely an honor and a pleasure!!" Arsi shared.
Libiran's creations range from exquisite wedding gowns to beauty pageant contestants. His most recent works include Marian Rivera's Miss Universe 2021 judging stint and Miss Universe Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez's evening gown looks.
He has also made outfits for Hollywood celebrities such as Billy Porter, Darren Criss, and Aladdin's Mena Massoud.
Meanwhile, Hidilyn and Naranjo got engaged in October of 2021. At the time, the couple said that they are planning a 2022 destination wedding in Baguio City, with the reception held in Manila.
The couple met during a weightlifting competition in Turkmenistan in 2017 and have supported each other's weightlifting endeavors ever since.
