'Unimaginable': Aubrey Plaza addresses husband Jeff Baena's passing
Aubrey Plaza has broken her silence following the sudden death of her husband, director Jeff Baena.
"This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time," she said in a joint statement with Baena's family shared with media.
The indie director died at 47 as he was found in his home in Los Angeles, California. Medical examiners ruled his death a suicide.
Plaza was scheduled to be a presenter at the 82nd Golden Globes, which took place on Jan. 5 (Jan. 6 Philippine time).
The Brutalist filmmaker Brady Corbet paid tribute to Beaena in his acceptance speech for best director.
"Finally, my heart is with Aubrey Plaza and Jeff's family," he said.
Baena is known for writing and directing various films, including Life After Beth (2014), Joshy (2016), The Little Hours (2017), Horse Girl (2020), and Spin Me Round (2022), to name a few.
He started dating Plaza in 2011 and got married in 2021 as the Agatha All Along star called him "darling husband" in an Instagram post.
