'Jimmy Neutron' voice actor Jeff Garcia dies at 50
The voice actor who voiced Sheen Estevez in the "Jimmy Neutron" animated series has died at 50.
As first reported by TMZ, actor and comedian Jeff Garcia passed away on Dec. 10, after being taken off life support at a Southern California hospital the night before.
His son Jojo Garcia also confirmed his death in an Instagram post.
"My father was a unique soul. He was unapologetically himself, and I will always admire the love, compassion, and drive that he had," he wrote.
"The talent my father possessed was truly one of a kind. From voice acting to stand-up comedy, he [shone] with his quick wit, brash humor, and charm. He has made such an impact on people’s lives internationally, whether you grew up watching Jimmy Neutron or shared a laugh with him at one of his shows."
"He was my hero… I idolized him," he added.
TMZ reported that Garcia was hospitalized around Nov. 20 due to pneumonia but was later discharged. He was back in the hospital on Dec. 8 after having difficulty breathing before his lung collapsed the following day.
The outlet also shared that the Nickelodeon alum suffered a brain aneurysm in the spring after hitting his head and had a stroke many weeks prior. He allegedly refused medical treatment and has canceled his performances ahead.
Garcia started as a comedian in the early 90's, performing in various clubs in Southern California before becoming an actor in shows and movies including Caroline in the City, Dangerous Minds, and LiteWeight.
Garcia's breakout role is voicing the hilarious Sheen Estevez, best friend to wonder child Jimmy Neutron in the titular 2001 Nickelodeon animated sci-fi movie, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, which spawned the 2002 animated series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius and the Planet Sheen spinoff in 2013.
The actor also did voice work in animated films Barnyard, Happy Feet and Happy Feet Two, and Rio.
He is survived by his wife Lisa and his two children.
