Brazilian influencer dies at 29 after liposuction procedure

A Brazilian influencer passed away at 29 years old after undergoing liposuction.

E! News reported on Saturday, Nov. 11 that Luana Andrade had a massive pulmonary embolism during the procedure.

According to Mayo Clinic, it’s a life-threatening condition that happens when a blood clot “blocks and stops blood flow to an artery in the lung.” The health information website said the blocked blood flow usually starts in the legs and then to the lungs.

The hospital detailed what happened in a statement provided to local media outlet Globo, saying that after two hours and 30 minutes into the cosmetic surgery, the reality star suffered cardiac arrest. She was transferred to the ICU when it was found that she had a massive thrombosis, but passed away even after getting immediate medical treatment.

Luana became known for her stint in the reality show Power Couple Brasil, which she took part in with the love of her life, Joao Hadad, last year.

She has garnered nearly 600,000 followers on Instagram.
