Chance the Rapper and his wife Kirsten Corley made an "amicable" decision to end their marriage, which lasted for five years.

"After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways," they said in a joint statement posted on the musician's Instagram page on Thursday, April 4. "We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together."

The former couple said they will continue to raise their two children as co-parents. "We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition," they added.

According to the rapper, whose real name is Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, he met Kirsten in the early 2000s when he was just nine years old.

They started dating in 2013 and welcomed their daughter two years later.

Chance and Kirsten broke up in 2016 but got back together in 2017. Kirsten initially filed some documents to be named the "sole caretaker" of their child, but she decided to withdraw it following their reconciliation.

The two got engaged in 2018. They tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed another daughter in the same year.

Kirsten became the inspiration behind some of Chance's albums and tracks, including his 2019 album The Big Day, which revolves around their wedding day, as well as his songs Blessings and Finish Line/Drown, where he expressed his incredible love for her.

Chance is also known for the tracks No Brainer, Cocoa Butter Kisses, and Summer Friends, among others.
