BTS member V has revealed that he has been receiving treatment for hearing loss in one ear, sharing the news with fans amid the group's ongoing world tour.

During a Weverse livestream on Wednesday, the 30-year-old singer, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, said he has been dealing with the condition for around two and a half years. He said this was the first time he had opened up about it to fans.

“If the hearing in my left ear is at 100, it's only about 30 in my right,” V said.

The K-pop idol said his hearing worsened while he was completing his mandatory military service in South Korea. He initially did not take the problem seriously, believing it was “a matter of mental strength.”

He is now taking medication and regularly visiting the hospital for treatment, according to the singer.

V completed his military service in June 2025 after enlisting in 2023. His military service came during BTS' group hiatus, when all seven members took a break from group activities to fulfill South Korea's mandatory military service requirement.

The revelation comes as BTS is currently on its "Arirang World Tour," marking the reunion of all seven members after their military service. The tour began in South Korea in April and has since taken the group to international cities.

BTS is scheduled to continue its world tour with stops in cities including Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Bangkok, Sydney, and Hong Kong.
