From PH to the world: SB19’s Ken brings his star power to the Grammys ‘Global Spin’ series

Felip Jhon Suson, also known as SB19’s Ken, has come so far.

Ken brought his talents to the global stage as he became the first full-blooded Filipino to perform for the Recording Academy’s Global Spin series. The series shines the spotlight on musical acts from different parts of the globe.

In the series, Ken showed off his fiery rap and dance skills in a performance of his comeback single Bulan. The SB19 member said he uses the name “Felip” in his solo releases to show what lies beyond his “quiet and reserved” image in the five-member boy group.

In a report by the Recording Academy, Bulan is described as a song that brushes off “negativity” while warning “any naysayers who would try to diminish his accomplishments.” The song is also said to show off Ken embracing his “hip-hop influences.”

Meanwhile, his performance was a nod to Filipino mythology, as Bulan refers to the Bicolano deity of the same name.

While Ken is the first full-blooded Pinoy to perform for Global Spin, Filipino-American singer Francisco Martin previously stepped into the series’ stage in May 2022

Ken debuted as the rapper and main dancer of SB19 in October 2018. He made his solo debut with the single Palayo in September 2021.
