Jellie Aw to pursue assault complaint against Jam Ignacio: 'Wala na pong kasal na magaganap'

Published Feb 21, 2025 6:23 pm

Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of assault.

Jellie Aw said she will no longer push through with her wedding with Jam Ignacio, noting that she will move forward with the assault complaint she filed against him.

Jellie made the recent statement in an interview with ABS-CBN News on Friday, Feb. 21.

“Wala na pong kasal na magaganap o matutuloy. Hindi na po matutuloy ‘yung mga napag-usapan namin dahil po sa nangyari,” she said, referring to the abuse she allegedly experienced.

She added that while she has forgiven Jam for what happened, she is determined to file charges against her ex-fiancé.

Gagawin niya ulit ‘yun, mas grabe pa,” Jellie explained.

She said that she also considered her family, especially her mom, in making the decision.

The DJ-social media personality admitted that she still has love for Jam, but she reiterated she will press charges so he could learn from this.

She also told her family and relatives not to worry about her anymore. “Lalo po ‘yung mama ko. Ma, wag ka na masiyado mag isip kasi ilalaban ko ‘tong kaso na ‘to,” she said.

Assault allegations

Jellie took to her social media pages early morning of Feb. 12 to share photos of her swollen and bruised-up face after Ignacio allegedly beat her up.

Her sister Jo detailed the incident, alleging that Ignacio did the beating in a locked car.

Jellie was only able to ask for help when they were at a toll gate. She then got a medical checkup before filing a police report.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Feb. 17 that it had issued a subpoena to Jam following Jellie’s formal complaint.

On Feb. 20, Jam broke his silence and apologized to Jellie and her family, saying their “simple misunderstanding” turned into a bigger fight.

"Baka napuno lang din siguro ako na hindi ko sinasabi na tama, pero hindi ko para i-tolerate na gawin ulit,” he told GMA News, insisting on settling things in private and pushing through with their wedding.

The following day, Feb. 21, The Philippine STAR reported that Jam was a no-show at the NBI hearing.

According to his legal counsel Oscar Karaan, Jam will face the case filed against him before the prosecutor's office. Karaan also disclosed that Jam has been trying his best to patch things up with Jellie.

The two got engaged in November last year after four months of dating.
